Tips for the Perfect PA
"Write an article of 150 words for the Newsletter", said Rosalyn, "Call it 'Tips for the Perfect PA' ". "Yes, of course" I reply; ...that's the PA in me.  I actually think; "how did you get yourself into this fine mess Anna? How can I do this without making it boring?". Then it came to me, The 10 Commandments, and the 7 Deadly Sins. So here we go!

1. You are a professional; act like it. A boss wants to be proud of his PA.

2. Be alert, be smart. The best PA's anticipate what's needed. Being able to take orders and think independently at the same time is cool!

3. Be totally involved in your boss's remit - you'll feel more in control, and your job will be far more interesting.

4. Be enthusiastic and accommodating.
 
5. Be polite and have respect for others. It's crucial to communicate at all levels - get people on your side - it makes life so much easier!

6. Develop a sense of privacy for your boss; and for yourself.

7. Look the part. Dress like you mean business.

8. Don't forget to keep him fed and watered - most of the men I know get the grumps when they are hungry. He will be flattered that you care.

9. Be super organised - it's a crucial part of the job, and don't forget to be flexible - if he wants to change his mind, even at the last minute, it's not a problem!

10. Last, and by no means least, have a sense of humour - we're only here once; enjoy it!

The 7 Deadly Sins:
1. Get over yourself - no one's interested in your tragedies or hang ups!

2. Check your ego at the door - there won't be enough room in one office for two egos!

3. Tantrums - forget it!

4. Check your hosiery - especially when it's black!

5. Too much cleavage is a no no!

6. And t's a "no" to extremely tight skirts or trousers - it may not actually be the most attractive sight!

7. You are privy to certain classified information - keep it classified!
